WANTED: PUMPKIN CARVING VOLUNTEERS

We would like to carve pumpkins with the children in late October and are looking for parents to assist with this project. We will supply the pumpkins, knives and candles; however, we need a few extra hands to keep the group sizes smaller. If you are free Thursday October 29, 2009 starting at 1:30 we would love to have you join the fun. Please let a staff member know by Wednesday October 29.

Microwaved Lunches

As the days get colder we have seen an increase in the amount of hot lunches bieng sent. Those of you sending a thermos have found a great alternative to the microwave. These lunches are still hot when we eat and require very minimal prep for the staff.

Anyone wishing to use a thermos is asked to label it for easy identification and hand it to a staff member in the morning so it is not stored in teh fridge downstairs.

Please review the list for your child’s name, if by chance your child is missing please let me know and it can be added.

Oct. 12-23-Red Leaf Yellow Leaf
Fall is in the air and the children will be looking at shapes, colors and names of leaves.

Christmas is Just Around the Corner!

Once the pumpkins are cleared and the leaves have all settled on the ground we will begin to practice for our annual Christmas concert.
If you think you are hearing your child humming the tune to Jingle Bells you are probably right.
The Christmas Concert will be held early in December .We will know by the end of October when and where so you can mark your calendar. It is certainly an event you do not want to miss!!

Cold, Flu, H1N1 and Your Child

We have heard the news, read the pamphlets and are preparing for the worst this season. We are attending a meeting on October 13th in regards to these topics. The Medicine Hat Daycare Association is bringing in both representatives from the Health Unit and Licensing to give us information on what we need to do to keep everyone healthy this year and guide us to preventative measures.
Once this meeting is over we will be passing along more information on new polices and procedures that we will be putting into place this winter.

Happy Fall Everyone!!

There are 2 things that have been unbelievable this month: the heat in and the speed at which this month slipped away from us. Both have amazed me as we look to October being fall.

We made it through another hectic September. Although it is a busy month it is also very rewarding to see the children settle into our routines and work with the lessons. Most children transitioned from the free spirit of summer back to school mode well. As always there are a few rough edges to smooth out. These will get taken care of next this month. We will be having a few more children coming into the program in October, as we are not full yet.

The children have also enjoyed their daily walks in the neighborhood. They are seeing the seasons change right before their very eyes and they are loving it!

The beauty of fall is all around us and we are not wasting a single minute of it, because as we all know in just a few short minutes, days or weeks the weather could turn on us!
